They featured that ATF agent who infiltrated The Mongols in Calif a
few years ago. Some home footage; interviews with ex-Mongols, ATF
agents. One guy, Red Dog, always believed the ATF agent really was
police and dogged the ATF agent.

I watched it and found it fascinating. I also watched the episode that
aired before it about the agent who infiltrated the Hells Angels,
which was just as interesting. The government wasted over 2.5 million
dollars on the HA project -- code named 'Operation Black Biscuit' --
but ultimately, nobody  went to trial and almost all the charges were
dropped. The reason? The ATF refused to release all the undercover
footage to defense attorneys because they apparently knew it would
incriminate their agents. The whole investigation was resultantly
thrown out.

National Geographic's intent may have been to shed a bad light on the
1% clubs, but what they actually did was show how ridiculously out of
control our government is.

BTW, both episodes will be re-aired this Sunday afternoon. I have them
set to record.

Second that!  A couple agents infiltrated a Richmond, VA 1% club by posing
as rich drug dealers and bankrolling all the clubs activities for about two
years. (Care to guess what that cost us taxpayers). In the end they busted a
few non-members for marijuana and one member for sharing one prescription
pain pill with a bro he thot was hurting but was really putting the sting on
him.  How low can you go?

Then there was the Florida club member,  a disabled Vet with a wife and two
teen kids, who was executed when he fingered some infiltrators.  AFAIK his
murder has never been solved.  But that didn't keep ATF from busting his
funeral looking for weapons then trying to deize club property for selling
liquer without a license.  Seems that, if I make a beer run, and the dudes
pay me before I leave, its legal but if they reimburse me when I get back
its a federal offense!

When I chided a FBI agent about the unsolved killing he said that federal
agents had a right to kill to protect their sting.

Anybody remember Waco and Ruby Ridge?  Tip of the iceburg!

LOL. Yep. To paraphrase Sonny Barger, that's probably less drugs than
the cops shared amongst themselves that day.

Yeah the ATF sure stopped the Mongols, didn't they? Just like the illegal
drug trade the ATF has stopped in this country. Thank God we don't have an
illegal drug problem anymore.

I'm sure this operation has f.cked up William Queen's life. But I'm also
pretty sure he's made a piss pot full of money off of his story.

No sh.t. That drug war has really been worth the money and trouble,
hasn't it. LOL.

Yep. He's rolling in it. The movie is in pre-production as we speak,
and will star Mel Gibson, no less:

Billy Queen was his real name. Some of the story took place in the San
Fernando Valley in 1977. I was riding all over the SFV every day and with all
that footage, you'd think that I would have seen at least one of the *six*
Mongols in the SFV chapter.

Maybe they were afraid to show their colors when they rode solo and attended
bike nights and cruise-ins that were mainly working class riders on Japanese
machines?

I found the notion that an outlaw club "controlled* the area identified by
the the lower rocker on the three piece patch to be a little silly. I think
that the
narrator should have said that the outlaws were "territorial" instead of
controlling.

We still see that territoriality amongst Mexican and Black gangs who will
demand to know, "Where you from, dude?" Or, they will shout out the name of
their gang when they do a drive-by shooting.

It takes a real genius to do that, they might as well shout out their real
name and address, because the Los Angeles Police Department has officers
keeping track of each street gang and who's in it and what they ride.

In fact, the LAPD was keeping track of who went to the Sunday morning
gathering of riders at Griffith Observatory until they found out we were all
regular upstanding citizens who just liked to ride together one day a week.

Billy Queen wrote a book about his experiences with the Mongols, but I
can't remember the name. I'm sure you can find it at the library.

If one is looking for a book,

is usually a more effective strategy than googling.

"Under and Alone" is the name of the book. But I rubbed elbows with so many
outlaws
and tweakers and criminals during that era I am not fascinated with gangs and
grown men who
behave like little boys.

Under And Alone by William Queen

Chain of Evidence by Michael Detroit is another comparable book

Here in Boise, ID we have Brother Speed M/C, but I rarely see 'em
around. They don't even have a website. A low profile is usually the
best way to avoid heavy LEO scrutity.

Yeah, I have the Illusions MC in my town. They shut down their website
some time ago. I see them now and again on benefit rides I do with the
my riding club. In fact, we rode in benefit ride for one of their
members who got into a wreck. I never see them just riding around
town, though.

Yes, I lived about a block from the Brother Speed clubhouse when I was in
Boise. I think they were in Spokane, WA, as well.

We've lived in Boise for a little over 5 years now. They're in Nampa and
Pocatello plus Portland. Am not acquainted with any of them. I do recall
that the cops took down the license plate numbers of all the motorcycles
parked at their clubhouse in Nampa for a Spaghetti Feed after the Idaho
Vintage Motorcycle Show & Swap in 2003 or so.

BTW, a deceased friend of mine (natural causes) was stripped of his VNV
colors and membership after putting his arm over the colors of a HAMC at
a local bar in San Jose, CA. He had a heart of gold, but no common sense.

I used to ride up there almost every Sunday. Pick up a couple of other
riders and take a ride from there. I was hanging out with Dick Symonds then.
That was so much fun.

We're you the guy on the old Triumph who would carry a coffee can, put it
under his bike whilst parked, and then put the oil back into it's tank,
before he rode away?

I sure miss that weekly get together. There used to be hundreds of bikes up
there. What ended it?

The tightwad regulars didn't want to pay an admission fee to get into the
park starting about 1983. Some people got old and quit riding, some people
moved away.

There were a lot of snotty queers and Jews and sycophants with their noses up
each other's butts hanging around there anyway. They gossiped about each
other like a bunch of women.

A certain motojournalist who sometimes contributed to "Rider" magazine, asked
me what happen to the Griffith Observatory Sunday morning ride.

I told him that it had drowned in its own snot. He said, "I can't write that
in an article."

One night, whilst drunk, I was outside of Tony's, another notorious one
percenter hang out. I was looking at one of the choppers, when a guy said
"If you like it, why don't you sit on it?"
Needless to say, I left and went across the street to Al Reads, a much safer
bar. In fact, in those days, Bob and Opal (both deceased) used to let me
sleep in one of the booth in their restaurant. Unfortunately, after they
closed, if I couldn't get home, I'd sleep in the bushes.

Yeah, the Mongol Bar  they mention, "The Place", was about 1 block from my
house. The alley where they gave Bill his members patch intersects my
street. Cat and I walk by there almost every day.

The Place is now a Mexican bar, under another name. Someone gave me William
Queen's book "Under and Alone". All of the locations mentioned in the book
were within a few blocks of my house. I knew there were hard core biker
gangs when I moved up here in 1976, but I thought they were mostly retired.
How wrong I was.

I always kept my bikes out of site, though. Even today. I think the gangs
are long gone from here now.
