Careful displaying your sick mind even thinking of such a thing.
Someone might get some insight as to who you really are.

White snow versus Black snow?  It's .... it's .... an invasion!
Call Homeland Security!  Border alert!  Time to pop a couple caps

Yeah you are probably only partially correct. We were riding in
January and February too. ;-)

Come to think of it, we probably were chuckling at those easterners
digging themselves out last year, weren't we?  Oh well, it's our turn
now.

Hopefully we'll be on the far side of winter by next week.  It's been
pretty annoying, getting all this white stuff right after it was all
melted away.

Well the melt will start this afternoon, again. We'll be on two wheels
in Calgary by Saturday.

A couple of Yamaha demo days events have fallen victim to this
unseasonable weather though. Calgary Harley has their demo days
scheduled for Saturday. That one might be iffy considering the road
conditions.

Ah well, time to shovel the snow off the walks, one more time.

Hasn't been bad here until this morning.
The temp is right around 0 and we awoke to a layer of snow which is
now being covered in a layer of ice pellets and freezing rain.
At least I've had every day since the 1st.
Then we're supposed to get more snow and then more rain.
Sounds like fun.
Hopefully it will be gone by the weekend.

It just might be extra cold there today as I heard something about

So there is at least one hockey fan south of the border. <g>

For what it's worth not many up here expected them to win. Taking it
to game seven was a surprise.

Good on the Sharks though. They just might take it all the way this
year.

My two boys are on travel teams. They also play for local teams. I'm
also coach for the my older kid's travel team. My younger son is a
goalie with around .800 save percentage. We *love* hockey!

Iginla and Phaneuf drove the whole team. Nolan was also excellent (he
used to play here as well is Kiprusoff who's save percentage was
higher than Nabby's for the series). They all stepped up and played
well! Flames coach Keenan sure knows how to intimidate referees! I
could hear him constantly screaming at them every time they called
something. After a while they quit calling *everything!* Man he's
loud! When I coach, the officials tend to throw more calls my way if
my guys are too vocal. Maybe I should start hollering at them ?!?!

I hope! We get to "dance with the (Dallas) Stars next! They always
play tough...

Good for you and your boys. I played competitive and later
recreational hockey for twenty years or so. It's a great game and a
good character builder. I played goal myself.

Iginla may be the best all round player in the league. While Phaneuf
has tons of potential he is not very strong in his own end.  He is far
too slow in making the first pass to clear the defensive zone. Keenan
plays him too much too and wears him out.

Nolan surprised the heck out of me, not just in this series but in the
latter half of the season. Pretty cool how some of those old guys like
Nolan and Roenick can play large when it counts.

I wish Kipper could be more consistent and dedicate himself to the
game a bit more. Technically he is not a very sound goaltender and he
is notorious for showing up to camp in poor shape and overweight. His
play through the first quarter of the season was poor and cost us
valuable points. if we had won more games early we would not have had
to face a tough team like the Sharks in the first round of the
playoffs.

It won't help, in fact as you noted it will likely backfire. Refs
don't mind being criticized, but don't try to show them up in front of
the crowd. Like most of us they have their pride and long memories.
You can tell them they made a bonehead call anytime, but I have found
it will carry more weight if done quietly and discretely, as opposed
to shouting them down.

Their a physical team with decent talent and a fair bit of successful
playoff experience. It will be a good series, but your guys should win
in six or less. You have solid goaltending, a good defence and a fair
bit of talent up front. Throw in some veteran leaders and it is a
winning combination. Good luck.

FWIW I am looking forward to watching the Pens Rangers series in the
second round. The Penguins are an entertaining team and the Rangers
are surprisingly competitive. Should be a fun one to watch.

NASCAR

Hell, I could make a case for every sport I'm not actively
participating in. But I do like seeing extremes of human physical
behavior. Like Nureyev, I am amazed that some basketball players can
leave the floor, get three feet in the air, fly 10 feet making 3 moves
in different directions, and throw a ball acurately while doing it.

Speaking of which, what the hell ever happened to getting called for
traveling?  These jerkwads can only accomplish such gymnastics after taking
five or six running steps (all while carrying the ball)...

Unh, yeah. The NBA may have some great athletes, but the game has gone
to hell. I'd much rather watch Candice Wiggins and the Stanford women
play.

No hard feelings. If the Flames couldn't hold the lead late in game
four they didn't deserve to win. But don't go making us look bad by
losing to Dallas!

The Sharks lost game one to the Flames, too.

Although I wouldn't recommend it, you can still walk on many of our

bet it would be a tad colder than 59. <g>

It was below freezing all last week in the mornings, but was warming up into
the 40s by afternoon.  It was hazy too, due to fires somewhere in the old
Soviet if you believe the news.  It was bad enough one day that you could
smell the smoke.

It started snowing this morning when I was leaving for work this morning.
It's snowed all day now, and is still snowing.  It's 32 F, there's about a
foot of very heavy snow in the driveway.  I'll be shovelling it all out
sometime this evening.  The news just announced the deadline for removing
studs has been extended from 1 May to 15 May, and some flights are grounded
due to snow.

Other than the woods out back looking beautiful, this all pretty much sucks.

That would sure beat shovelling the drive by hand, last night and again this
morning.  XC, Downhill, and snow machining are all popular winter sports.
Late Feb and March are good months as we get late winter snow storms and
it's warming up some in Mar.  A few people die each year in avalanches
though, as the late winter is also the time for avalanches.  Today would be
a great day for any of those sports but most people spent the last couple
weekends putting the winter toys away (my snow blowers are in the shed
behind a couple stacks of studded tires) and getting the summer toys out.

I dug the Concours out of the shed last weekend while putting the winter
crap in, busting off a sidecase cast support bracket in the process while
negotiating a tight turn between the remaining snow and a fence post.  I'll
hit the dealer today to order a new one, and some new tires.  I'll then sell
it if summer ever gets here.

I wiped four inches plus of the beautiful white gift from the gods off
the truck this morning.  Every day that the weather is like days of yore is
another day that doesn't get up to 100°F this summer...

I, for one, am glad to see the weather get back to normal around here.
It's been years since we've had a good winter.  Even this winter wasn't
cold enough for long enough to drive out the bark beetles and
Californicators.

We had an extended cold spell back in January where the temps dipped
to the minus 35 range. Although the counts are not all in yet, initial
indicators are it decimated the Mountain Pine Beetle populations on
the Alberta side of the BC border.

If true, it will be very good news for us.

We got down to around -20°F for a bit.  Not nearly cold enough nor long
enough to drive off either of the pests.

I, for one, like 100°F.  It has been varying between 60 in the AM to 80 in
the PM hereabouts.  Had a nice 100 mile putt along the beach today.  Saw
lots of Pelicans and other birds plus literally100s of yuppies - mostly in
'possies' but a few singles and pairs.  Hope good weather comes your way
soon.
