Was riding to the grocery store today ... very little crash gear ... it
dawned on me that I really might want to wear an orange reflectorized safety
vest or something like that. At least I had on a light grey sweatshirt ...
not a dark color.
But then, I was thinking ... I have a lot of unused area on the back of my
sissy bar ... could probably mount a few reflectors there.
Motor vehicle regulations probably require that any reflectors be red ...
Any ideas for high-visibility? Any specific products? Any cool reflectors
out there?
I'm also open to the idea of some lighting.

So, you're looking for a bunch of sissy ideas ?
BTW, LED modules are available from a bunch of sources, that
you can tack onto your running lights and turn signals with no problem
( very low current draw ). Snake the wire up inside the tube if you
like, or hot-glue it on in the least visible place.

I think the *only* lighting that motorists see and react to is the blue
flashing variety. I suspect that fitting that is as illegal in the US as
it is in Britain.

I'm not sure if fitting it is illegal, but turning it on definitely is!
BTW, I'm reading it as 5 - 6 a.m. in the UK. Are you an early riser or late
to bed?

No, really :-)
In a town called Dalian, on the coast, SE of Beijing. Really rather a
nice place. Back home Sunday.

Supposedly, the florescent lime yellow is the most visible color.

We have a guy here who has a white strobe mounted to his sissy bar. He also has
strobes in his road lights on the front. Distracting a hell for other drivers
but, they see him like it or not. I have no idea of their legality. Personally,
I have never added anything beyond the OEM other than upgraded headlamps. I
have thought about the possibility of somehow setting up a flasher/strobe when
the brake light is activated for a few seconds just to draw attention as soon as
I apply the brake. I am also considering conversion of the turn signals to LED
because they are much sharper and easier to see because of their fast
illumination time. An LED brake light would also be more visible because of
their intensity and quick illumination. An initial flash of 3-5 cycles before
continuous illumination may also aid visibility.

I saw a guy on a BMW who had installed an electrical add-on to do the flash
then solid thing you describe. I was behind him in a car, and we were both
going to the same grocery store (didn't know that when I was behind him).
Anyway, at first I thought he had an electrical fault, but then as I saw
more than one stop I realized what was going on.
So, they do make such things.

I did this to an aftermarket trunk on my bike.

Probably a similar unit to the one you saw. The company that makes it
has a couple of different models.

Just found the link to Signal Dynamics' site:

The one in the video is the BackOff Wig-Wag XP.
