I don't know if everyone realizes this fact but the motorcycles MOSTLY
finish with a fastest average speed and lowest times in the BAJA. 500
& 1000 races. (see link for 2008 1000 times below)
I couldn't find the 2009 result but look at the average speed and
times to finish and you'll see the bikes beat the big 140MPH "Trophy
Trucks" due mostly to better corner speeds.

We have a guy in our local group "Scratchers" or Mike Stein that
finished the 2005 or 2006 1000 race in 5th overall time, riding the
last 100KM with a busted wrist. And he rode the entire race as a
privateer & solo at that. I think he was riding a 650-DS.
