Maybe it's me, or maybe it's the bike, but after 5 hours on my SV, I felt
numb. Would rising the bars up maybe 1/2 in help?
I'm 38 now.

Dog, you will lessen wrist pressure when bars are raised and this would
probably help. My suggestion ... I bought a pair of WR-1 Alpine Star gloves
that are well padded and for some reason this seems to help on long trips.
Less pressure on hands I guess, but without hassle of moving bars...

It wouldn't hurt. I have a certain pair of leather gloves that fit me too tight
and cause my fingers to feel tingly after a half hour or so. I think it's a
combination of the lower blood supply and the vibration. I don't seem to have
the problem with my other gloves.

Same here, I bought some brand new gloves and the thumb was a little tight.
The tip of my thumb was numb for a month after that weekend.
I would think if there was back pain, or wrist pain, then changing the bars
would do the trick. I know my palm hurt after a while from resting on them
all day.

maybe some bar risers and peg lowers.
