Just like "Twist Of The Wrist" 1 & 2 is the sportbiker's bible, what is the
bible for off road riding, like motocross?  I want to get my friend's son a
book, because he is getting an 100cc off road bike for Christmas..

Thanks in advance.

Yah, there is one.  His name's Peckhammer.

I wouldn't call him a bible; more like a "gospel according to."  I
laud his revelatory off-roading comments, however..

(bad puns, sorry).

God bless,

I think Pro Motocross is the best...

I am the Great Peckhammer, and I have to agree with the recommendations for
"Pro Motocross and off-Road Riding Techniques."  I have this book and refer
to it often.

And now, for some pontification about trials riding as the best training for
all forms of off-road... I highly recommend Ryan Young's "Trials Techniques
and Cross Training Tools," available at http://www.rypusa.com/ (on-line
shopping link).  This will teach a person more about handling an off-road
motorcycle than you can imagine -- and these techniques are applicable to
"regular" dirt bikes.  If you really want to wet someone's appetite, or if
you just are curious about trials riding, I suggest  "2003 Vol 2. US
Nationals from California, Tommi Ahvala," available at
http://www.trialstv.com/

The latter video is even more near and dear to me because it was shot on the
property where I learned to ride -- and I liked it so much I bought 5 acres
just a few miles down the road from there.

I'm bringing the Sprint on Christmas, dude!  It may travel in my truck... or
not.

BTW, I'll do the best I can on the potatoes... now tell me, what's for
dinner?

I've been thinking about the Sprint, the whole reason I have the Speed
Trip is because I can do things like switch wheels (or any other part
pretty much) with the Daytona when I need to.  I would rather buy the
Sprint outright than trade the Speed Triple for it.  (But Mary won't
allow that....)  We'll have to talk about it more.

Don't worry about the potatoes, I know the state of your kitchen remodel
right now.  Bring GIN 1.5liters should suffice!

We're having roasted Turkey!  Just like last year!

Sure.. no problem.  Besides, I can pick up a newer Speed Triple for about
$4K, so if the bug bites, I'll just do it.  OTOH, I may put bars on the
Sprint.  Of course, once I've invested the $300 on that project, there will
be no trades... ;-)
