My wife's old guitar teacher's father raced planes.  He worked for Seagrams
and Modavi wines

I wonder if his plan is the pictures...

Nice photos.

Whose P-38 was that? Did it fly?

The only P-38's I know the locations of are the Yankee Air Force's
P-38 at Chino, Joltin' Josie at Planes of Fame in Chino, and the
P-38 at March Air Force base Museum. I asked the pilot of Joltin' Josie
how much it was worth and he snottily said, "First, it would have to be
for sale," and turned away. There are only about half a dozen P-38's
flying in the whole world. Or maybe it's five. I seem to recall that
one in an English museum crashed a few years ago...

I just found out this place is right around the corner from my house.
They're looking for some volunteers.  I am going to check it out.

Yes it  flew and sounded very impressive. It was race competitive but
at least 450MPH around the pylons. Tops, like rare Bear wee over
500MPH.

We have a shitload of air museums around Phoenix:

Champlain air Museum near Falcon field in Mesa AZ:
They have the "only remaining" FW110 with the high altitude Daimler
Benz water cooled engine (same as late model F-109's. Most the
FW-110's had BMW 801 radials.

The Confederate Air force right around the corner in Mesa:
The have a B17 and a few other WWII planes. Champlain is huge in
comparison.

The Pima Air Museum in Tucson near the huge USAF bone yard:

The Phoenix Air races were held at the old Williams Air Force Base
Site, in Chandler, just SE of PHX Az.
