Is there anyone in this forum riding a Honda CBR 900.

Of course not, we only ride new and exciting machines, and the 900 is at
least a generation or two out of date.

But some of us, like me, have owned one in the past. We prompted forgot
everything we knew about it as soon as we moved on though, so there is a
chance we won't be able to remember much about it.

I bet you remember that goofy 16" front wheel, though.

Two Brothers made a 17" kit.  God knows how much it cost, or how that
affected the geometry.

Some ideas are better off dead and buried.  Wondering if sportbikes
will revert to 16.5" one of these days, all the rage at the pro level.

Back then it was weird, but I could still get a Metzler race tire for it.
Dunlops as well.

I remember the ol' Ninja front 16 incher with that anti-dive stuff and rear
16 incher, then my ZX10 had a 17 front and 18 rear, the FZR was a 17 front
and 18 rear as well I think.....I'm pretty happy with semi-standard sizing
now myself.

Don't forget the 21" front ends...

I recall an ol' 19 incher on a KZ750....tall and skinny she was. I remember
being STUNNED into submission when Kawasaki put those 120/17 and 160/18
MASSIVE RADIALS on the ZX10. Now my itsy bitsy beginner bike rolls on better
rolling gear, and same size fork tubes as that old 550 pound tank.

When Kawi put the 16 incher on the first 600 Ninja they didn't want it
to be twitchy, so they gave it more trail to add stability.  When you
hit a bump while leaned over it would turn the steering in and make the
bike stand up.  Weird

My '84 FJ1100 exhibited similar behavior to that you describe,
suggesting the designers didn't really understand the equation (fixing
one flaw by introducing another).  I don't think the behavior was
unique to the 600R.  Still, for the day, the 600R was a big step
forward in terms of power, liquid-cooling, and relatively decent
handling.

My FJ and '85 Ninjas  had waaaaay too much extraneous mass.  Just
looking at the parts it was obvious what could be sawed
off/re-engineered.

The relatively spindly forks and not-well-understood perimeter frames
(latter was a relatively new concept) added to the mayhem.
