What's the secret to preventing a helmet's visor from fogging when it
is in the full down position? (especially in cold temps)
I have my helmets vents fully open, but it still does it.

The inserts work really well, I bought a helmet that came with one as standard. Other tricks I have
learned over the years are:
Clean your visor, then get some fairy liquid (washing up liquid) on some kitchen towel and rub it
into the visor on the inside. Next use some clean kitchen towel and wipe it until there are no
smears, your visor will not fog. Downside is that it's a very temporary trick and you'll have to do
it at least every day. also if you rubit off too hard you'll have to start again.
Another tip I got given was to slice a small potato in half and rub it on the inside of your visor.
Again the visor will not fog but it won't smell too clever either :)

Yep. I like some of the Fog-Off and similar stuff. I know they
sell it at ski shops - some motorcycle shops will sell it also.

Scorpion helmets come with anti-fog visors, I have ridden in mucho cold
weather with mine. They're not expensive either...

Inserts or anti-fog spray. I use a spray that I also use for my
paintball mask. Works great and lasts between visor cleanings.

One thing that always works for me is to not fully close the visor.
Leave it just a very small amount open...no fog.

That's what I do now, but I'm hoping to have the convenience of being
able to just push the visor down from the open position and not have
to fidget with it.

Really nice thing about my helmet there, the visor doesnt move
smoothly up and down, it moves in steps, so you can click it into
place right before it closes and have it be fairly secure without
worrying about it moving further up or down. No need to fidget with it
then either =)

Mine has clicks too, but it the last "click" is too big so I fidget
with it so it stops half way. :\
maybe I'll just get a thin piece of felt to stick on the edge.

I'm staggered at the advice you have had hear - from potato peel to
washing-up liquid
That was all things I did back in 1979 when you had no choice.
For gods sake just get a fogcity insert or a pinlock (fiddly if posts not
already fitted) and your problems are over
These 21 century products actually work
I have about 7 visors (different ages and colours etc) all fitted with
fogcity
