Is this a legitimate sport bike? Can it match
the SV650S ?

No. It is the bastard son of a Bonneville and a Ninja. Hope this helps.

No but it is a great learner bike.

Just another damned TEASER "PAY" site. I wouldn't give these clowns a
plug nickel for their online reviews. Too many free sites and if you
want the real thing you just go down to the supermarket or Borders and
buy YOUR OWN COPY ads & all, just like MO;) Hell the Brit rags even
have girley pictures inside. The Internet equals free unless you're
buying something tangible, like MC tires.

Agreed.  Now, where should I buy my tires?

A member of the local sport bike club has all the equipment and will mount
tires for $10 or $20 if the wheel is still on the bike.

I'm leaning towards Pilot Powers or Conti Road Attacks, based on a local
recommendation.

I usually check ronayers.com then give the price to denniskirk.com.  They'll
beat the price by a buck and get 'em to me faster, even though I'm closer to
ronayers..  Others may have a better source.

Thanks for the reference.

I used to buy my tires at kneedraggers.com when I was doing two
bilkes, half dozen track days a year + 20,000 MC miles a year. 5,000
was tops for any tire mileage.

Sounds about right or a buddy with a tire machine :)

I'd skip the Conti's. I've always had good luck "streetwise" with
Bridgestone 020 rears and 010 or 014 fronts for 5,000 miles of hard
street riding. I tried M1-Sportecs & Rennsports but they wear out too
fast and the fronts get squirrelly after only 2000 miles. Also,
Perrelli's use the same compounds as the Metzters and are steel belted
(not so hot under some road conditions). The Michleins and Dunlops are
single compound, so I've always shy'd away from them.

For the Track, Stone 001, Michlin pilot race or Rennesport soft
compounds if that all you use um for.

Dang it! Thanks for reminding me I have 2 bikes.  The Nighthawk sits with a
new seat of Pilot Roads waiting to be mounted.  And probably a better
commuter.

I can save the F4i for the occassional track day and weekend canyon runs.
Thus maybe more track oriented tires.

Thank god it is winter and I have months to change my mind.

But I am easily distracted, sometimes I want to sell the 750 and get a newer
dirt bike... Not that I ride dirt that often, but on occassion it is great
fun.

Sheesh, I hate winter.

Listen to the guy recommending the Pilot Powers:

       http://www.accwhse.com/michelin.htm#Tires%20street

or

       http://www.ronayers.com/catalogs/tires/parts.cfm?secid=1&type=43

These are typical of good prices.  You can probably find them cheaper...

While poking around, I found this site too...

I sat on one at the bike show the other weekend.[1]
Ergos are good, and it feels light. The engine is basically
half a ZX12, no? Should be good for 75 honest horsies.

The colour scheme is a bit gaudy for my tastes.
And the muffler probably prevents a centerstand. The
swingarm is threaded for spools tho, which is a nice
touch.

I'm looking forward to seeing the evaluations against
the SV. I think it should do well.

[1] For MikeF: I also finally sat on the Ulysses; one
with the standard seat and one with the lowered seat.
Very comfy. I can't flatfoot either bike, but I was
surprised how confident I felt sitting on them. I'm
definitely taking one for a test spin next year at
Infineon.

When ya do, do us a favor and post your impressions on it. It was nice
hearing Andy's positive impressions of it earlier this year.

Now, if only Troy would take one for a spin :)

The suspension will not adjust enough to acommodate
his fat a.s.

Hope this helps!
