That is a lot of race tracks in a small area. I drove by that track a few
years ago, but I was "hauling a.s" in a 24' UHaul driving from San Antonio
to SLC on the I-10. I didn't stop.
A good friend of ours lives in Tempe and used to run his VWs at the drag
strip back in he 70s and 80s. He was pretty successful. And I've seen the
drag boats n TV, that is some scary racing.
Even though I think those road courses are very tight and little dangersous,
it is nice that a facility like that is available year round.
Here is the current state of our new track:

left you can see a smaller track, that is the "Monster" 1 mile go cart
track, it is near 30 feet wide the whole way around. The UtahSBA ran a few
track days there last year and that is where I did my hands on corner worker
training.
Unlike Firebird, you can see there are no concrete barriers to run into.

That's a nice looking facility Bryan. Is that the Wassach Mountain range
I see in the background? I've been through SLC numerous times and recall
the city is right up to the edge of those 10K+ foot mountains (like
Tucson & Mt. Lemmon) on the East side and the Great Salt Lake to the
West of town then Ogden to the North. As I recall SLC was one of the
cleanest towns I've even been through. I think it's over a million now
or at least so from a metropolitan area standpoint. My friend from my
retired place of work goes on Ski holidays up there. He's Muslin who
went through the Sarajevo war in Bosnia and he's an Olympic class skier.
He got into bikes for a short time YZF600R but his wife said it was too
dangerous after all both had already been through and survived during
that ethnic cleansing by the Serbs, war.
I actually have two biker friends that hail from the former Yugoslavia,
Branco a serb who's family left prior to the ethnic cleansing war and
Senad & wife Mirella + two dauthers who lived though the worst of it in
SeraJevo. The two have never met but either swear that what happened
during the war is over and done with.

BTW, Bryan, we also have two other racetracks near PHX. Both the others
are on the West side of town or Phoenix International Raceway and the
2.25-mile AMP track currently closed due to politics. (See article
below)

We're a metro of over 4 million now (yeah bigger than Seattle Tacoma,
Atlanta or Miami) so we need better track facilities. There are two
tracks in Eastern NM (Arroyo Seca) + one another and Pahrump near Vegas
plus Willow Springs in Ca but those are all pretty far away. I like
Firebird because they recently completed a new section of Freeway and
it's only 10 minutes from my house or about 15 miles as the crow flys.On
a day when they have top fuel drags/boats, I can hear the cars or boats
from my house (wind bearing)
Unlike Firebird, you can see there are no concrete barriers to run into.
