I replaced the voltage regulator on my gsxr and a few connectors becuase they
had melted.
now that it's all back together; I turn the key on (not even start the bike) and
the speedo jumps to 80 and the odometer ticks over as if it were doing 80. I
start the bike up and put it in gear -- the speedo doesn't change.
Another clue is that my digi guage only picks up 2nd gear (any other gear, still
shows 2nd).
I looked for a wire I may have broken or pulled -- but can't find anything.
Any ideas on where to look, or what might be the issue?
Thanks

Just let off the gas a little =)
No seriously...
Never taken a gsxr apart but I doubt it is much different...
My R6 had a connector going to the instrument cluster that had a whole
bunch of wires that gave it all the data it needed. The connector was
hidden somewhere below the cluster, in the bracket that it mounts to.
First thing I would suggest would be to look for something like that
on your bike, and if it's the same, make sure it is properly seated
and that there is no corrosion on any of the terminals.
If that doesn't solve anything...start following wires =)

It's a very embarassing probem....
I traced EVERY wire; had most of the bike apart, started testing wires left and
right (up and down).
I got to the end of one wiring harness... my speedo healer....
switch #1 had moved to the ON position...
That's the "test" mode -- where it SHOULD go to 80.. D'OH!
I put some gorilla tape over the switches to prevent them from moving again.
At least I know my entire harness is good & I have clean connections now!

Sounds like a wire bundle melted together or you swapped a couple of
connectors. Wayne
