Finally a warm sunny yet windy day. Time to get to business, my first time
taking the wrench to the F4i. Here is the plan: Front brake pads, oil and
filter change, air filter change, drill fairing and install sliders.
1. Front brake pads, easy as pie.
2. Oil change (see Remove lower fairing, fuckin fasteners..) Large
automotive drain pain won't fit. Look around garage, find disposible paint
tray. That'll "work". Hmmm, filter "special tool" called for. NAh, this
large plier with work.
3. Air filter, manual says lift front of gas take. Corbin seat means remove
seat. 12 screws to remove air box cover. Sheeesh.
4. Slider install. Measure, trial fit, trial fit, final fit, drill pilot
hole, drill 1 7/8ths inch in fairing, test fit over frame slider, seems
good, repeat on left side. @#$@%@%$^&^%^*% ONE FREAKIN' fastener won't line
up! I need to add clearance for the slider on the right side.
Now I know why service is so expensive on sport bikes.
Note to self: Buy naked (the bike not me) next time.

You forgot. After drilling the pilot holes, you put all the bodywork back
on and make sure they line up with the bolts....

I stuck some playdough to the inside of the fairing then put it back
on. The slider left an impression in the dough telling me where to
drill. High tech!

Oh yeah thanks, that is exactily what I did, I missed by a "c.nt hair". I
was a patient boy, took my time. At least the right side came out PERFECT.
As a first attempt, not bad. But, like dry wall, practice makes perfect.
Honest to god, it is the fuckin' fairing fasterners that drive me insane.
I swear to god, I know a toolless fastener can be designed. I can "see it"
in my "minds eye".

They're called "snap-fits." Cheap, limitedly reusable, and an excellent
design feature to add into engineering drawings. Bad in this case because
you want to take the fairing on and off multiple times.
