What brand battery are you using? I just had the same thing happen
with one from Advaced Autoparts. Bought it in April and after a few
weeks it had leaked and got into the side panel lock of my 500T.
After taking off a bunch of parts I managed to get behind the lock and
remove the panel and then clean the lock out and get it working again.
Cleaned the battery and it seemed fine...thought maybe I overfilled
it. Last weekend I took the cover off and it was leaking again, right
from the positive post.
Took it back to Advanced only to be told it was 1 week out of its 3
month warranty. They don't even pro rate the damn things. I raised
hell in the store until the manager came out and gave me a new battery
to shut me up.
It's possible they have a bad batch of these batteries and I would bet
that the ones that Autozone and Walmart sell are probably made by the
same company.
You may have a voltage regulator problem where you're overcharging the
battery, but the odds of that happening on 2 bikes would be slim.
