low seat, high bars, upright riding position, fat rubber...it will be
a winner... the day of the crotch rocket is fading.

next comes these standard types, motards... and next, already in the
wings as i had been predicting also, flat tracker version street
bikes.   250 lbs, 50 to 70 hp...

nothing even comes close in the tight turns under 70 mph or so.

the new Husky motard 500 is a rolliing piece of art in that category,
but still a motard, tall... the flat tracker versions will change
thinking about bikes for folks too young to have been aquainted with
them or involved in oval dirt racing.

Thank God huh Phil? You think Buell had a little something to do with
this?  Well along with Ducati and Triumph. Rid the world of the
plastic clotch lockets.

I hope so. How about 60 mpg too?  I may sell the Buell and get one.

You're not kidding. Too bad ATK didn't hop on this Motard bandwagon.
The husky gets poor gas mileage though.  In this day and age when gas
is going to hit $5.00 a gallon you better get good MPG or Im not
buying. No reason why a lightweight 500 cc bike can't get at least 60
mpg. Also, Aprilia has that little Vtwin MX bike. They should make a
motard out of that and increase the displacment to say 450 cc.

hahahahaha...

its a mix though.  Only the japanese brought us the world class
outstanding ability to do power wheelies at 120 mph...now thats
hot...but somewhat heavy.   So handling suffered some.

Next comes the 80 hp, 250 lb haul a.s frat twackin haww a.s
moworcicle...first versions will be take offs of the yamaha yz 500.
those will got to 600, new materials will allow longer hours on the
rings, and higher revs.

Pure heaven will have arrived.
Husky, ducati and triumph will have to work hard to stay with that...
a good thang.

Buell, already the worlds fastest, hottest looking, sexiest, drives
women crazy motorcycle  -  should probably stay that way... for those
reasons. .. one cant haul a.s well with an erection.

The new v twin motard/ flat trackers in the 250 cc/ 40 hp range will
come close to that over time.

atk is a tiny company, mostly serving sportsman and pro racers who
cant afford to pay 20k for a Ron Woods special  ..  www.rotax.net

thats tricky... the large pistons create flame front propagation
problems.   (fixing that is not easy, the higher the revs and HP the
less time for that phase of the combustion phase, low revs as with the
HD, and a smaller bore relative to stroke, allow more time for that
phase of ignition, thus better fuel efficiency...but lower revs, and
with that lower horsepower.,..   the 90 degree twin allows a 50%
improvement on those issues.    a v 4 allows much more, as revs can
increase also.

a v4 firing like a twin will produce the best power/ wt/ fun profile
in the final analysis.   Lovisone will have been proven correct at
that time...give it another few months, if aprilla isnt already there.

others will follow.

If Buel wishes to retain its already spectacular lead it will have to
go in that direction as well...but with serious loss of sex
appeal...which takes us back to the erection issues again.

You wont have to wait long imo... then a lower flat track
version..those are already being produced on the specialty market for
about 20k.
