Really? How was the Alcan? Did you like the accomadations in Whitehorse? Is
the Arctic Ocean blue and did you get to stand on icebergs? Please....
I am jealous of course of even a little motorcycle riding around Alaska. But
renting one there and then NOT doing the Haul Road doesn't seem much
different than renting any bike anywhere, except with better scenery of
course.

Whats a throttlemeister? Like some homemade cruise control? And have you
ridden any which had those heavyweight super duper bar end weights on them?

Yeah, but I make it sound better.

That is exactly what it is. And they double as bar end weights. And
I have a Helibar top triple clamp that's about double the density of
the OEM. And the engine is dually counterbalanced. And I still gets
stinkin inline 4 vibration.
Long live twins!

I was paying real close attention to the couch as I rode to work today, I
think I've decided there is NO vibration below 4K, but from 4K-6K or so,
there is just a wee bit-o tingle, with gloves on I'm not sure I even notice.
But the other day when I was riding down to the shop I got the bike out onto
the interstate and did a steady 70mph, and right there I could tell
something was going on, just enough to make me want to shake out my hand
occasionally.
I was wondering how some of the bigger sport touring bikes did, like an
St1300 or even yours. I don't suppose you've ridden an FZ1?

I've ridden damn near everything. And like all other inlines they
buzz too. At idle it makes the windscreen resonate. Like the rest,
if you don't stress the engine much they're silky smooth though.

How about BMW's? Air cooled flat twins? Do they vibrate like the regular V's
I'm used to, inlines, what?

Yes only more so. And when you twist the throttle the bike falls over
to the side because the crank is inline with the bike instead of at
the standard 90? angle. The equal and opposite torque reaction to the
crank normally damped out by your suspension is now counting on your
leg. FWIW, I've only noticed the effect at idle and it's not harsh,
just kinda weird. I can't imagine the leg strength required to rev
one of those Boss Hoss' at a light though.
