I am in need of the torque spec for the 10mm flange bolt
that retains the alternator rotor to the crank in a
KZ1000B2.  I have a manual that covers the KZ900 which I
have and the very early KZ1000 with the 8mm bolt.  The crank
I am using is one from a 1978 year model that has the 10mm
flange bolt and no key so that correct torque becomes more
critical.

Any help - metric or imperial - will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Guess I'll answer my own post on this one.  I still have not
been able to find an answer in a manual.  I am going to
torque it to 24 ft/lb.  The spec for the 8mm x 0.75 is 18
ft/lb.  The 10mm is a 1.0mm thread pitch.  The same force
should be produced by setting the 10mm x 1.0 bolt at 24
ft/lb which is close to the 25-33 ft/lb used in general
torque recommendations for this size fastener in the manual.

If anyone has anything different from a manual for this
application in the 1978/79 KZ1000, please post back here.

Thanks

You can always ask at kzrider.com.
There should be plenty of opinions there.

This chart is supposedly standard metric torque values:
