On the bike advertised in this months UBG classifieds:

"BRUFF SUPERIOR neglected but could be rebuilt engine/belts, all good,
£2200; no offers. Tel.           (Herts)"

And remarkably cheap if it is a real one - are you sure a '0' hasnt been
missed off the price?

Well my mind's eye sees a sort of bicycle with a reddish-brown sort of
vee-shaped lump in the middle, in a similar state to those German
tanks that got dragged out of Russian rivers.

A bloke I worked for, in 1987, had a Brough for sale, it was a wreck,
but fairly complete - engine, frame, tank and wheels were there, but
completely covered in rust, as were any other cycle parts. Another
dealer I knew at the time offered him £2000 for it, which was refused,
as they wanted £5000.
I dont know what became of it, though it may have been kept by the
family, as the Dad liked his old vehicles, and could certainly afford to
keep it, and restore it to a perfect finish.

I rang him in April, it had gone. The UBG ads aren't updated that often,
apparently!

I bet he got loads of calls though.
