Still around?

I am getting the distinct impression that the old laissez-faire attitude
to off-road motorcycling in France is no more. Very few about this trip,
and no luck getting a guide from the local moto club. No, almost
welcoming, blurb in the Mairie and a very snotty reception at the
tourist office when asking about it.

Someone told me that the law has changed recently. I am sure the risks
of actually being apprehended are small, and a suitably muddy
registration plate would be a good idea, but a couple of really good
tracks start and finish close enough to the chateau that an aggrieved
local could easily make the connection and bring unwelcome official
visits.

What is the situation round your way?

When we were down there at the end of May, he reckoned that he didn't look
at UKRM that much nowadays, so you might be better emailing him.  He was
grumbling about beer deliveries, but not about off-roading.

Which reminds me, I really have to post something about the gite.

Thanks. Couldn't turn up that web site from my memory or the Google
Groups archives.
