Anyone know the cheapest (and fairly quick) way to get from Brizzle
airport to the Chippenham/Calne area?

Ma's looking at buying a new motor and weighing up the cost to send me
to collect it v. the large delivery charge.

Flying to BRS is preferable to spending 6 hrs on multiple trains and
only costs £20 more.

Cheers!

I'd have thought a taxi is probably the only option.

Bugger! That'll probably cost the same as the flight...

Nonsense.

30 minutes on the coach from the airport to Temple Meads and 25 minutes
on the train from there to Chippenham. £11.40 all in.

Coach, every 15 minutes. Train, f.ck knows. Every half hour, at a guess.

However, once you factor in airport transit, check-in, flight, arrivals,
and the connections, you may be better off taking the train all the way.
I had to pop up to Newcastle for a meeting a few months ago and the
door-to-door journey by train was 30 minutes quicker than by plane and
gave me a couple of hours of uninterrupted drinking time courtesy of
GNER.

Indeed. I'm off to Brussels in a couple of weeks and the train looks
like a winner on journey quality and cost (even paying 1st class to
London). I reckon there's only about half an hour in it by the time I
drive to Brizzle airport and then get into Brussels at the other end.

Manchester (IIRC) to Chippenham = 4hrs 17min one change.

Open single (use on any train) £48.50 std or £109 first class - much
cheaper booked in advance to use on a specific train.

When are you planning to travel?  I've got to nip over to Chippenham
sometime this week, and I could detour via Lulsgate.

No, but he is considering Nigeing the SO people carrier as it now has
a brand new MOT. Much to my surprise.

It'll be a Saturday, either 3rd or 10th.

I've done some more poking about and got the train down to £30 ish,
Wigan to Chippenham, via Brizzle and not much longer than Sweller's
time.

A valium should prevent me massacring fellow travelers...
