Almost certainly a local mobile phone mast. They tend to stick a streetlamp on top of them these days though, to make the general public glance past them and not think about what they are.
If you can be bothered to go back to it, you'll find a company name, O2, Vodafone etc. and a telephone number on one of those green boxes next to it which will confirm what it's for.
