I was going to ask the same thing. Well, not specifically on the
Sunday. I was thinking of knocking off work at lunchtime on Friday and
going before the drinks-at-Lowlander.

But then I thought about it some more and realised it would be £18
that could be better spent on beer.

Is Ally Pally not on this year?

I'm going on Friday.

I thought this was the Ally Pally show but they'd just moved it to a
better venue.

The Ally Pally show was (recently) run by Superbike magazine, this
"london motorcycle show" appears to be an MCN affair.

I would disagree that ExCel is a "better venue" than Ally Pally, but
that's purely a location thing (I've never been to ExCel)

Band rehearsal has been cancelled so I could come and annoy you at
Lowlander but I'll have the old man with me so possibly not.

I don't care who runs any of these things. I don't do the MCN hatred
thing although I think Superbike is a w.nk rag for chavs.

Having been to both ExCel is a larger, modern venue with better access
and facilities. I'd rather go there given the choice but there's not
much in it from a location point of view for me.

fair enough - Ally Pally is just a hell of a lot easier for me to get
to/from.

Superbike and Fastbike seem to be aimed at the sort of riders who wear
stick on fluorescent mohawks on their lids.

The last time I went to Keighley, it looked like 19*6*5, so you're 30

those are the reasons I'm not going to bother - I've pretty much
decided on what I'm going to replace the Tiger with at the start of
the summer, so I don't need to do the "sitting on bikes" thing.

Just mentioning the fact that white is available.  It's so "you" and

I like the Triumph Speed Triple in white, but I really can't stand the
look of the new Z1000 in any colour. The exhausts look like....f.cking
stupid exhausts.

heh, IKWYM.

Still, I'm sure there are better after-market ones already and that
will release some more power to boot.

Do you know what other "improvements" the 2007-on model has over the
original one?

CBA, and TBH, it's not that important as I'm not likely to buy one
anytime soon.  I was only asking out of (muted) interest.

I do quite like walking around bike shows, but given the fact I work
15 minutes from Lowlander, heading out to ExCel to have to head back
in doesn't seem worth the hassle.

it has more fairing, but I don't really like the look of that either.

In any case, I don't like the price - if I do buy a new bike, it'll
definitely be the GSF1250SF mentioned previously in this thread.

I thought you'd go so you could knock one out at the sight of the

i do. it also copes with greek, kanji, hiragana, and sumero-akkadian. it
just copes with them differently.

i'm sure i've already explained the problem before: usenet is broken by
design as it assumes that everything is 7-bit ascii and doesn't specify
a means of describing anything else.

But it's your setup that's failed to quote it correctly. I wondered
why you'd have something that was set up in such a way that it would
fail to do so.

Well please explain why it reads the first post correctly, but
replaces the pound sign with the n-tilde when reading dog's post.

Now it may be that your newsreader displays both correctly, but it's
quite clear that dog's is changing the character coding in some way
too.

well, i've changed my setup to completely ignore mime and not send any
mime headers hopefully, so whatever i quote will just be the ascii
payload of whatever anyone originally sent. that may or may not be a
better experience for everyone.

Ant's post used the ISO-8859-1, and QP encoding.
Dog's port used UTF-8, and straight 8-bit text.

Agent was happy with the former, but not the latter, and the subsequent
posts from you and Champ used basic 7-bit ascii, which changed things
irrevocably.

Odd.  Antonye's post contains the correct symbol.  Dog's quote from
antonye correctly contains the pound symbol. However, your quote of dog's
quote of antonye contains the spanish 'n' with a squigly bit.

So I put it to you sir: get a decent newsreader.

Not from 'ere it doesn't. n-tilda is what dog's post appeared as.

As Ace (also and Agent user) - not for me.  I saw a pound sign in
Antonye's post, and a spanish n in dog's quote of Antonye's post.

I'll definitely be working there on Saturday and attending as a visitor
if I'm not working there the next day as well.

You'll be out of luck I'm afraid. Graham only has the Held gloves range
on the stand this year. Better pop in and see him or me at the shop.
