Heh, I saw one of those polite collections happen round here a few months ago.
Local scrote, known for small time dealing, theiving, anti social behaviour etc etc
I was walking towards our local shops and could see him with mates doing the usual - sitting on a wall with a bottle of Vodka swearing at passers by.
A white astra pulled in at speed and out jumped 2 large fellas with baseball bats, he didn't even have a chance to run before he was bundled into the back of the van.
It did appear to do the trick though, as he does appear to be somewhat reformed and has a job now.

Or, to quote a mate, whose brother had had his 3rd MX bike nicked in 3 months, on spying the miscreant in our local:
"What's that word again, Bear?" [1]
"Recidivist"
"Ta. Well he's one of them, and I'm giving him a couple of love-taps as a result. Tally-ho" [2]
[1] I'd introduced him to the term earlier in the evening, and he clearly loved it [2] why on earth a working class builder locked onto that as his "it's going down" phrase of choice I have no idea, but it's one of the things I recall most strongly about him

It's all in the degree then. I thought kicking 3 scrotes who kicked my son (a while back) was justified and so did the dad of one of the scrote's when he came round to "sort me out" after his sh.t-for-brains son told him how he'd been attacked for no reason.
After a few words, said dad turned on his own scrotal emission and clouted him on my doorstep. Good move I thought.

That reminds me, they've agreed that we can claim for subsidence for the broken drain (ukrm passim). Problem here is that the broken drain runs under next door's patio. This is going to be fun. Nice people, but we're going to have to tell them that their garden is going to be ripped apart.

If the insurance is paying, make sure they realise they can have a nicely re-worked garden into the bargain. Coz they can.

Grimly Curmudgeon - 27 May 2008 01:22 GMT We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "Dr Ivan D. Reid" <Ivan.Reid@brunel.ac.uk> saying something like:
>I'll have something to say about magnetism on Wednesday, when a >certain news embargo ends... You're going to flip the magnetic poles?
>And no, it's _nothing_ to do with LHC and the Higgs Bozo. Or maybe not, then.

My position was (and, to be honest, largely remains) one of complete ambiguity.
