It's in the boot of my car - it's in pretty good nick but it has no
bracketry or destructions. I think I'll give the makers a call tomorrow
and ask if they have any of either kicking around.

I was thinking more along the lines that Lozzo could fall off, and
everyone could then laugh at him :)

Unless you driven an outfit before, it'll be hilarious at the first
left hand corner...

This is a leaning sidecar, one of those horrible 'tea-tray on a wheel'
things that learners bolted to the side of 250LCs back in 1981 to get
round the 125 law. Having ridden a couple of bikes with them fitted, it
won't be a problem.

A correctly-fitted[0] Sidewinder shouldn't be noticeable.

[0] I'm not sure if this is possible, mind.

Not if you use the right material for the linkage. I recommend blutack.

Just attach a piece of rope so you can lift it up at the appropriate
moment...

Some sort of linear motor attached to a handlebar switch a bit like
those flip up number plates would be jolly smart.....

You could have a nice "Gear - UP / DOWN" lever and a red light that
comes on when it's retracted, with a green light when it's down and
locked.

I like it.

My position was (and, to be honest, largely remains) one of complete ambiguity.

Wouldn't need to be electric - just an extra choke lever and strong
cable. You might need both hands to operate it though.

I recall seeing a couple of those when they were in vogue that had
thick bungees top and bottom - they could be flipped up and lowered at
will.

I've probably got the instructions but not the bracketry for an AIM-9
Sidewinder and AGM-84, having fitted both to a BAE Nimrod back in '82.

"Destructions"?  You bet...

I'm probably the only one here of the correct age to have actually used
one, it was a device with a very narrow lifespan.

In mine & their defence I'll say they made a hell of a lot of sense at
the time.

Most of what you hear about them will be old wive's tales, true, but
probably recited from tales they once overheard in a pub. It will be fun
& it will end in tears.

All you have to do now is learn how to ride with your foot holding it down !

There are plenty of posters here who are more than old enough to have
been on bikews well before the 125 law came into play - me included.
I'd already passed my test in April 1979 but a few of my younger mates
got caught out.

I only want it fitted to my 250 because it's a period style accessory
and a bit silly. They were crap, there's no doubt about that, but they
were fun crap that kept a handful of blokes on their 250s and helped a
huge number of my mates get through their bike tests[1] after the 125
law came into play.

[1] Over roughly 3 months about 15 of them borrowed the same 250LC with
sidewinder off our mate Roger to take their tests on.
