I think the GT750 is fixed.

No empirical fuel consumption data yet but I took it out for a 30 mile
run and the fuel gauge didn't move.

I rebuilt the (replacement) carbs with new jets and needles, rebuilt the
fuel tap, rewired the coils and replaced the exhausts with OE.  The
cumulative effect seems to have done the trick but I think I had it fixed
as it ran ok for a day then got worse (when the tap died).

And very pretty it looks too (GT 750 values of pretty).

The OE exhausts (I won two full sets on ebay) for the grand total of £38
plus £20 in petrol to collect from a slightly pissed off seller.  Huge
difference.

It's worth mentioning Ian from Motad offered to test (at their expense)
the Motad system it had but it started blowing and I scored the
replacements so I didn't take him up on the, very welcome, offer.

Elefantentreffen here we come.

They really were jolly fine machines.

You betcha.  The original pipes are definitely worth having, and
you've scored a massive bargain there.  Old Kawasakis used to rot
their pipes from the inside, so put some old engine oil down the
silencers to maximise their life.

I was just thinking "StattoCruiser".

I've got  a sidecar doing nothing that would bolt right onto that fine
machine.

Hmmm.  Tempted.

...but I can't see it ending happily.

No welding required?

How difficult would it be to attach?  What colour is it?

I think he's on about the one attached to his Z500 and if so I *think*
it's black. Attachment would be easy because he's got access to a MIG
set and it's not as if you'd want to remove it once you'd experienced
piloting an outfit again...

True. Very true.

Bloody hell, that looks nice. My old machine. *Sniff*.

I took that bike to the South of France for a villa holiday.

I lent it to a mate to take to the 1997 or '98 Bol at Paul Ricard.

I took it to Ricard again in 1999, when the Ducati had its infamous
spark plug episode and I just had to throw all the luggage onto the GT
in order to have some wheels for the journey. It had balding tyres and
knackered head races at the time, and it weaved so badly that I couldn't
catch Alien Kev on his 600 Diversion on the autoroutes: I had to back
off at 110.

One of the best bikes I've ever owned. Not exciting, but so competent at
what it was designed to do. I clagged on a handlebar screen and some
secondhand Krausers and it made a brilliant budget tourer. Only fly in
the ointment was the footpegs, which were a bit too far forward. The
550, oddly, has them set further back.

I still have that pot of genuine Kawasaki GT750 maroon touch-up paint,
remember.

Oh, and be warned that clutch cables die early as they're routed down
the front frame tube right in front of the exhaust headers, so they sort
of melt. Buy a spare.

It scrubs up well - I haven't seen one of those that clean for a while.
