Is it some quantum thingy that makes car windscreen wipers come on in
accidents?

My Volvo turns the hazard lights on when I brake harder than the
designers think appropriate.
I treat it as a target since I discovered the feature.

My Fiesta did that.  Problem was when driving enthusiastically, they
were on permanently.

I turned them off.

My Rover 820 had a sensor which cut off the fuel pump when it decided it had
been in a shunt.  Problem was it couldn't differentiate between a horrific
motorway shunt and a speed bump.

There's a Fiat (Brava or Bravo, IIRC) where the cut-off switch was
bunged under the front passenger's seat.  Fair enough, except on early
ones they got the ramp angle wrong, so they triggered just a gnat's too
readily ... if a passenger got in and moved the seat all the way back,
hard, they would trigger, leading to many a comedy "breakdown".

Happened to my tall mate Murf with a Unipath pool car. He said "It's a
Fiat, I suppose I should have expected something like this".

Getting the blood off the windscreen.
