I have just over 10,000km on my V-Star 1100 Classic, and the rear tire
is wearing thin. I figure maybe another 2000km. This is OE Dunlop
tire.

Although it does not seem like I got much mileage out of it, I must
admit that this tire has been very good. I have had no scary episodes
with it. So maybe I will get the same thing again. Plus, it will match
the front.

What are other people averaging on the rear tire? Any suggestions for
a replacement? Keep in mind I live in Canada. We get ice in the
morning and melting asphalt by the afternoon.

I ride with a passenger a lot. That, apparently, makes a big
difference.

I just turned 55,400 km on my V-Star and burned the last of the tread
off the back tire before changing it. It was due; I got 24,000 km out
of this last tire, a Yokahama. And almost 9,000 km of that was towing
a trailer. Shame is they don't make bike tires anymore. I decided to
put on a Bridgestone Excedra - same as the original OEM tire that came
with the bike. I don't expect to get as much mileage out of it as the
Yokahama but it's a good tire and rides well.

I had considered going with a Dunlop Cruisemax but my experience with
Dunlops so far have been mixed. Their touring tires wear well but I
find them very noisy, especially when cornering (make a very noticable
"zip"ing type sound) - suspect it must be because of the harder tire
compound. (my front tire is currently a Dunlop Elite II and can't wait
for it to wear out so I can justify replacing it - won't be a Dunlop
again though!).

Hope you found something that worked out well for you.

I've gotten around 15K on  a Brigestone rear and around 17K on a Metzler
rear.  For overall handling, feel and traction I prefer the Metzlers over
the Brigs.  I'm in Canada too.

Ride safe.

Hi guys...I'm from Canada as well.  Anyone know the best place to get the
best price on a rear tire for the Vstar 1100? (and will do shipping in
Canada)?
