I ride with a passenger a lot. That, apparently, makes a big
difference.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

I just turned 55,400 km on my V-Star and burned the last of the tread
off the back tire before changing it. It was due; I got 24,000 km out
of this last tire, a Yokahama. And almost 9,000 km of that was towing
a trailer. Shame is they don't make bike tires anymore. I decided to
put on a Bridgestone Excedra - same as the original OEM tire that came
with the bike. I don't expect to get as much mileage out of it as the
Yokahama but it's a good tire and rides well.
I had considered going with a Dunlop Cruisemax but my experience with
Dunlops so far have been mixed. Their touring tires wear well but I
find them very noisy, especially when cornering (make a very noticable
"zip"ing type sound) - suspect it must be because of the harder tire
compound. (my front tire is currently a Dunlop Elite II and can't wait
for it to wear out so I can justify replacing it - won't be a Dunlop
again though!).
Hope you found something that worked out well for you.
