I've just reconditioned my forks on my xj 550 and found out that they are
from an xs 750 bike ,the job is done now but I do not know how much fork oil
to put in, dose any body know.
The bike shop that I got the fork oil from said that it is 170cc each fork,
but I suspect that this is just a gestimut ,but this seams a bit low to
me.The manual said that for the origanal xj550 forks, it would have been
269cc so I am a bit confused as to how much to put in . I could always put
in the 170cc, and add as I go along until it feels right, but i would like a
"guide figure" to go by as to how much the manual might say should be in the
xs750 forks when on an xs750 bike.
So has anyone out there got a manual that they can read me what it might say
,thanks

I just did mine about a week ago. 1978 Yamaha 750 Special, or XS750. The
Hayes manual says 170cc, so that's what I put in. Seems to be about right.

There's an excellent web site at xs11.com It is for the XS 1100 but allot of
the same rules apply to all the XS models. I recently bought an xs1100
special for 325.00 and the helped me so much that I'm now looking at an
XS750 to restore. Go to the forum section and search the strings for any
problem you might have. Remember it's not the destination... Its the RIDE...
