I'm thinking about purchasing a windshield for my Vstar 650 Custom. Can
anyone recommend a good one? Thanks

I put a J. C. Whitney SHIELD EX on mine for about $110. I like it fine.

It's held to the forks with hose clamps, which didn't impress me. You may
have to go get larger ones than they provide, depending upon where you set
the windshield (remember, the forks are tapered)

Go with genuine Yamaha parts. Everything will fit better. I'm glad
someone convinced me to do that when I bought my windshield.

Ditto on the factory stuff. I ponied up the bucks and bought the tall
Silverado windshield. It has that huge chrome strip across the base that
really helps with visibility, especially on a sunny day.
