2005 R1 - Vibrating mirrors

Just got a new R1 and am really enjoying it, it's a great bike.

However when I get to around 65 MPH the mirrors start to vibrate. By the
time I reach 80 MPH they seem virtually useless as I can see something
behind me, but cannot tell what it is, that's how bad the vibration is!

Is this normal on the 2004 - 2005 R1 or is there something wrong with my
bike? Is there anyway to cure it?

Thanks,

IainP

Doesn't seem right unless your stretch of road isn't so smooth.
Did u ask the dealer?  Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll give you
a straight answer. That would suck if you were over 100mph and
you had a defective unbalanced tire.

Thanks for your reply - I agree that it does not seem right, but the
rest of the bike feels fine. Just annoying about the mirrors. Will ask
the dealer when it goes in for it's first service.

I once owned a Suzuki GS500 twin. One mirror vibrated something awful. Turns
out it was loose glass. It wasn't going to fall out but it drove me nuts. I
got a new one under warranty and it did the same. Bike shop didn't want to
replace it until I mentioned Consumer Affairs.

My 05 R1 does not display this problem.  Mention it to your dealer at next
service...
