Anyone know if Yamaha outsources production on it's stock seats? If so,
what company? I'm trying to find a GOOD rear touring style pillion seat for
an '03 V-Star 1100 Classic. Any suggestions. Trying to keep cost at or
below $200.

Why would you want something even resembling stock V-Star seats?! From all I
have read (and experienced) they are not very comfortable.
Have you checked out Pacific Coast Star?
http://www.pacificcoaststar.com/pcs/seat_original.htm. Scroll down a bit and
you will see the pilon seat for under $100.

Same thing that I was wondering.... I'd go with a Mustang total
replacement saddle.

Thanks for the advice. I just ordered a new Mustang touring complete
replacement. I knew I'd have to go this route, was just looking for someone
to push me in that direction!
Thanks again!

And you're gonna love it. It does take some time to break in and
soften up but not that long. Yamaha stock seats are sorely lacking.
<no pun intended> ;-)

I can't spean for him, but I believe mine cost around $350 for a '96
Virago 1100 Special. Here's a link to their site:

Ouch! With driver backrest, no studs: approx. $835 CAD!!
TrlrBob - 09 Aug 2003 03:56 GMT
Ordered a touring style with studs and driver backrest for $629 USD. Just
received an email from Mustang that it's on back order for 3 - 5 weeks.
Just cancelled order. Hunting for someplace that has it instock. Any
suggestions.

Anyone have anything to say about the Dual Touring seat made by Corbin? One
website recommends Corbin seats. (can you tell I have no clue?)

Check out International Star Riders Association. There is a forum you can
join and search on. It has piles of testimonials about all sorts of
products.

I had a Corbin once. Never again. Those things are almost worse than
the stock seats.

overpriced and uncomfortable.
William Wood New - 15 Aug 2003 00:52 GMT
I ordered Mustang seats to replace my stock. The factory said 4 weeks, it
really on took 2 weeks and shipped to me in 1 day. So canceling backorder

V TwinNut - 21 Aug 2003 18:25 GMT
Yamaha uses Corbin for some of their seats.
For Mustang the factory will always be higher than any
dealer due to the fact that they won't undersell them.
Try Hellrisers Customs in Santa Cruz, Ca
Unless the factory is out of stock they ship fast and
prices are excellent.
http://www.hellrisercustoms.com/
Check their web site then make a phone call to confirm
the order and stock availability.
As for the International Star Riders Association forum
it is on Delphi Forums.
