I have a 1998 V-Star 650 Classic and am looking to learn how to do some
basic maintenance and upgrades.  Does anyone have a preference or
recommendation as to which manual might be better: Clymer vs. Haynes?

Thanks,
Kevin

I have a  Manual for this on CD.  I got it off ebay for a couple of
quid.  Now I'm not the most technical of people but this manual is like
a step by step guide.  I even managed to set my valves properly with no
outside help.

I could not say for sure. But the OEM manual for my V*1100 is a confusing
piece of crap. No index, changes are laid on top of the previous instead of
inserting in proper location.

Have you check out this location.

It has good instruction with pic's under certain categories.

Given a choice of the two, I generally prefer the Clymer BUT it would be a
really good investment to bite the bullit and order the reprint of the
factory version. More specific information can found in it OR you can go to
roadstarclinic.com. It is a website for RoadStars but there are lots of
helpful folks that really know what they are talking about.

OEM!  OEM!  OEM!
Do it like the manufacturer meant it to be done.
My two cents.
