Has anyone tried either the Metzeler ME880 or Dunlap D404 of the front. My
type of riding are long rides with my wife and around 50+ pounds of luggage.
I'm tired of the cupping with Bridgestones. Any other suggestions would be
greatly appreiciated. FYI - I just got the Dunlap D404 on the rear (trying
out).
Thanks in advance,
Greg

If you don't actually need a rain tire to ride in the wet, select whatever
tire has the least amount of unsupported tread blocks.
Cupping occurs when unsupported tread blocks can squirm around as you corner.
Look at what sportbikes have for water grooving. Not much in the middle, and
even less on the shoulders.
If you can find a pattern like that, you'll get less cupping.
Also, the tread depth is important. While a back tire might have 7mm to 9mm
of tread depth, front tires often have only 5mm tread depth to reduce
squirming and cupping.
The air pressure recommendations in your owner's manual are for straight up
riding at whatever weight your bike is carrying within the GVWR rating.
As you lean the motorcycle more and more, the g-forces increase by about 15%
at a 30 degree lean angle.
So, if you like to ride curvy roads, you might increase your tire pressure by
around 10%.
