It's the only thing I can figure on this old 83 400CC Seca I'm restoring.
I do the simple stuff these days and let the shop do the tough stuff.
Anyway, I've had this for a year. If you look in the sight glass (on
stand and all that stuff) you can't see a level and I'm not even sure I
can even see oil at all.
Every time I change the oil I let it drain and put on my glasses and
even use a flashlight. I'll be damned if I can tell if it's full or
empty and all the oil is drained out. I even resorted to measuring how
much drained out to make sure I wasn't losing it (In more ways than
one :-)
It appears to be item 28 on this page...

It makes me a little nervous depending on the oil light.
So, has anyone ever seen a sight glass get like this?
Is there anyway to change it short of pulling that cover?
I've never seen this happen before or heard anyone speak of it so it's a
new one on me.

The motorcycle should be on its wheels with the centerstand up.
Maybe the sight glass has a sheetmetal part inside like the one on my FZR1000.
The oil level is supposed to bisect a hole near the top of the sheetmetal
dingus.
I use an inspection mirror with a telescopic handle to check the oil level
rather
than get down on my hands and knees and try to hold the motorcycle vertical
with
one hand without tipping it over.
You probably cannot change the sight glass without removing the clutch cover.
