gas pouring outta carb.  replaced the needle valve assembly.  float has no
gas in it. with float chamber body off i can press upward on the float and
the flow stops. so i tried bending the flap on the float that contacts the
needle valve.  still leaks. ??????? thanks in advance.

ok, but after taking the carb apart and making sure it's squeaky clean, reset
it.
the gas we've gotten in the past 20 odd years is sh.t and turns to crap in as
little as a month. so clean the carb. if it's been sitting for more than a
couple of years, i would get a rebuild kit.
at the same tims, to save future problems, clean the petcock and check inside
the tank.
water in gas=RUST.

thanks.  done all of the above except rebuild kit.  been looking for a
complete carb (new or rebuilt) on the net with no luck. actually, i had carb
"professionally" cleaned and i cleaned and refinished the tank.  appreciate
the input.

you shouldn't need to eplace the carb. unless it's cracked or in someway
damaged, you should be able to fix it. did the pro rebuild it?
try the rebuild kit first.
and share the results, ok jim?

any idea where to buy a "rebuild kit" i've put a new pilot jet, nozzle valve
assembly, and have a new float on the way. if i hafta keep buying individaul
parts at the price i'm paying, i could buy a complete carb, that is if i
could find one. i looked at the thumper page. 4 stroke. mine's a 2
