I just traded my V-Star 650 classic in on a new 2004 Road Star. What kind of
gas mileage can I expect. Not that it matters much - I love the bike. Just
curious. Thx.

I just this morning filled up.  Reserve light had just lit up at 199.6
miles.  I topped the tank with 4.01 gallons.  That's close enough to 50 mpg
for me to call it that.  Equipment might be an issue.  K&N airbox and
160X80H16 rear tire.  Before any mods I was getting around 45.  Thought that
was good!  BTW, I weigh about 255 (down from 288...not that I bragging).

I live in the country so there's not much stoplight to stoplight driving.

That is pretty damn good. I have a 2000 RS MM with Vance and Hines
Longshots, Big Air Kit, and rejet for performance, and Dyna Ignition, and I
am lucky to get 38-40 mpg.  I weigh about 245 lbs.

I just bought a brand new '03 Roadstar Silverado (great deal as everybody wants
the new '04) and am getting about 50 mpg completely stock. I plan on new pipes,
Big Air, and rejet. I hope it stays around 50:)

I have a 2003 Road Star Midnight Star and I like the bike so much I don't
even check my gas mileage.  I have the Vance & Hines longshots, K&N high
flow air cleaner, rejetted for the pipes and its in the high 40s to low 50s
range.  Compared to my cars its great.  When I'm out riding, the very last
thing on my mind is gas mileage.  Its the free feeling, the sights, the
smells, and just the companionship when riding with friends.

When I'm out riding with friends I don't care about milage either. But when I'm
communting 90 miles each way to work every day, I'm happy to report I'm still
getting about 48-50 mpg:) My other vehicle is a Dodge 4x4 and it gets 13
mph....! I love my Roadstar.
