The XJ1100 Maxim had the same engine and drive train as the XS1100.
The rest of the XJ series is roughly a refinement/replacement of the XS
series. The first XJ's came in 1980.
XS's were in 360, 400, 500, 650, 750 and 850cc versions, the 750 and 850
had three cylinders and shaft drive, the smaller ones two cylinders and
chain.
XJ's came in 400, 500, 550, 650, 700, 750 and 900cc versions, all four
cylinder, 650, 700, 750 and 900 shaft, the smaller chain.
The 550, 650 and 750 came in both a "Seca" (sport) and a "Maxim" (cruiser)
version for the US market, only "Seca" for the rest of the world.
