Question for you Harley riders (and others, too)14 Nov 2007 04:30 GMT11
Do Harleys have an overflow valve on the gas tank such that if you
fill the tank to the brim standing straight up, excess gas will flow
out of an overflow valve in order to prevent overfilling?
I was told by a Harley rider on a longer trip that he couldn't do what

"Motorcycles may forever symbolize youthful rebellion. But trikes,
which sacrifice heart-pounding acceleration and the thrill of leaning
into turns for greater stability, are a lot easier to maneuver in stop-
and-go traffic..."
Crate Fun13 Nov 2007 19:45 GMT39
So, after years od sloth, indolence, and delay, I finally got off my
butt and took photos of my EX500 race engines and sold them on eBay.
Giveaway prices, too; with opening bids of ninety-nine cents and no
reserve, a couple of dudes are getting stone cold bargains.

Long Way Down13 Nov 2007 16:13 GMT4
Anyone else been following Long Way Down, the motorcycle trip by Ewan
McGregor and Charlie Boorman (among others) from John O' Groats (North
Scotland) to Cape Town?
The BBC has been showing it, three eps aired so far.  It's not technically
Winter Recommendations13 Nov 2007 12:02 GMT7
2003 Yamaha VStar Custom 1100.
I am in NE Ohio and my bike fits on my enclosed outdoor patio.
I am just wondering what are the small things I could do
so I do not have to think about winterizing my bike?

I make a guest appearance at the end of #6 (*).
For artistic merit, I really like #5 (**).  Getting on the freeway is fun.
#2 (***) is OK, too.
Lifan 70 Engine13 Nov 2007 02:44 GMT9
I purchased a Lifan 70 as a replacement for my 1970 Honda Trail 70 motor.
It's a very close match, but the wiring doesn't hook up and the motor is
too tall to fit the bike frame with the existing intake manifold.  Any
suggestions for my dilemma?

Raise your hand if you LOVE the Interceptor13 Nov 2007 00:18 GMT4
I've been looking for the perfect bike to handle daily in-town commuting
plus occasional sport touring.  Considerations include cost,
reliability, and performance.
It seems like the Interceptor should fit that bill.  But I can't seem to

Hard Braking12 Nov 2007 18:44 GMT49
Someone just told of having 20' notice before hitting a dog and putting them
both down.  I made no comment at the time, but it got me thinking(!).  I
wonder how much speed was scrubbed before contact?  I wonder how much any of
us could lose?  How many have practiced high speed ...
Reliable?12 Nov 2007 12:39 GMT16
I'm wondering what would be the most RELIABLE mount available in the
BMW line. I mean, of all the years BMW motorcycles have been produced,
which one would go the longest without breaking down. Routine
