Hello World08 Dec 2007 04:01 GMT8
I'm trying out my shiny new *pan* newsreader.  To celebrate the
holidays I'm converting from Linux_from_Scratch to Debian.  It's a big
deal to get all the config tweaks just right and then load up my
laptop.  What else am I going to do while it snows every other day?
1998 Triumph Trident 900....07 Dec 2007 19:42 GMT16
Any thoughts on this bike?  Am looking for a sport-standard type bike...but
can't find any real reviews for it.
Thanks in advance.

My server has been acting up and dropping usenet messages by the
hundreds, including any replies to my post from the other day about
the Trev Deeley Motorcycle Museum.
If any of you happened to reply to it, I wasn't able to read it or of

One of the guys at my work has just got his full licence so he needed a
bigger bike than his 250cc......Since he's a qualified rider , he
figured an R1 should do the trick. (You can guess whats coming  :)  )
After going for a quick test ride (wheelie around town) he brought one.
Scorpa Motorcycles06 Dec 2007 14:43 GMT1
Does anyone know about Scorpa Motorcycles?
Are they good quality?
How do they compare to the 'usual' Japanese brands?
Parts available easily?
New Bonnevilles06 Dec 2007 10:27 GMT8
When I last test-rode one, they were still 790cc's of NO fun.  I'm reading
that when the firm went back to a 360 degree stroke [supposedly 270 when
they first started up??] and increased the cc's to 865, things started
feeling like the peppy bikes Triumphs were back in the late 60's ...

The windshield on my bike has gotten pretty hazy. Any particular
products you folks have had better luck with than others to make them
clear again?
TIA

Just bought my first motorbike (age 55). A friend had owned it for 2
years and put 800 kilometers on the clock! It is in great condition.
The manual is in Spanish and I have been unable to track down an
English translation on the Web.
Do you get black fingertips from your black leather gloves?05 Dec 2007 15:00 GMT10
Do you get black fingertips from your black leather gloves?
My year-old black leather gloves now give me a black stain on two of my
fingers. I suspect gasoline got in there from a fillup, probably from my
hands. Now, every time I ride, I end up with a black-tipped finger or two.
An Incredible Collection of Antique Motorcycles05 Dec 2007 14:58 GMT6
Last Saturday I flew out to Vancouver, actually Delta BC, to check out
my new Road King, sign the papers and cut a very large cheque.
After hanging around the bike shop for a few hours and having several
more hours to kill before catching the plane home, it was suggested I

Dessicant plugs04 Dec 2007 19:46 GMT2
Well, winter has officially arrived here in CT (fuggin cold this AM
and for the next few days) and my scoot has been put away until
Spring. I've read about dessicant plugs that replace the spark plugs
and remove moisture from the cylinders, but haven't been able to find
The Inevitable Has Finally Happened04 Dec 2007 19:29 GMT41
My bike exceeded 8k miles on the odometer this Thursday.  The 8k
service interval is now due.  Also the Pilot Road tires still have
some tread left in them before reaching the wear bars.  The Michelin
men on the edge of the tread are still fully intact.  I guess I don't
Is that good service?04 Dec 2007 18:46 GMT3
I was on my way home from work tonight when I spotted a biker stopped
by the side of the freeway. I pulled over and asked if he needed help.
He said, "Yeah. It just lost power and died." So, I started looking at
it. It was some kind of Japanese cruiser, used, but fairly new. It
