No, not the toys ones from Aldi etc. Just received a flyer from Mitutoyo, offering a Digimatic caliper 0-150mm x 0.01mm for £47.50 with a free fridge magnet of one of the pictures of totty from their

So how many people here have an interest in both SOBs and SOCs? The reason being my wife has a Ducati and a rapidly expanding collection of Ansonias that I am expected to maintain. Bikes I can cope with but the ticky things I know feck all about.

| I guess I should count this as progress... | 26 Mar 2006 20:35 GMT | 2 |
After some more fiddling I actually managed to start the FrankenXL250. As bad as the donor engine looks it seems to be running OK, no untoward noises or somesuch. However it looks like the rev counter isn't working and by the time I tried

| Why didn't MV develop 2 stroke engine? | 26 Mar 2006 17:00 GMT | 17 |
Maybe this question is not appropiate here and I'm not a mechanic. - but I was reading about the 500cc grand prix in the mid 70's, basically how the MV Agusta could no longer compete with Japanese 2-stroke bikes. MV set about developing a four cylinder engine to increase power ...

| Dodgy Lemans frame? I think so. | 24 Mar 2006 19:09 GMT | 5 |
Another dodgy Ebay frame advertised "with no V5" as "it was for a special". I asked about the frame number so I could check it out and possibly apply for a V5 from Swansea on the existing frame number, but the guy comes back with:

| More Cibie headlights | 23 Mar 2006 11:35 GMT | 44 |
5-3/4 inch Cibie in a cheapo Bates style shell. 1st run down some back roads this evening. "Oh Yes" most illuminating. I shall buy the second one now. Cheap solution, about £50 all in per side. Just need to run some heavy duty wire up and splice in a relay.

| TOG, Wegg, etc etc and bike repairs! | 21 Mar 2006 15:48 GMT | 94 |
Posters such as these seem to be able to grasp how to sign cheques to pay those enlisted to work on their various bikes, but dont really seem to have much of clue if they have to get their own hands dirty (TOG suggests cam chain must be split to remove cam from XS650, and Wegg

| Cordless Drill Driver recommendation | 20 Mar 2006 14:10 GMT | 18 |
Have decided that a top quality cordless drill/driver is next on the list. Getting the Dremel 300C kit convinced me there were a couple of things missing in the kit. I can't accommodate a compressor for the real deal at this time.

| That surprised me | 19 Mar 2006 09:01 GMT | 67 |
Faffing about with the CD250 at the weekend... trying to make it slightly less shite, but it'll always be a SOB. Anyway, I wanted to replace the chain. No problem. Spun the chain and couldn't find a spring link. Blimey, Honda only went and stuck an endless O-ring chain
